PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for easily and simply obtaining a molded article having a desired shape by heat sagging. SOLUTION: A method for producing a molded article is provided which comprises placing a molding glass material on the molding surface of a molding die and heat-treating the resulting material to form the top surface of the glass material to obtain the molded article. The molding die used is a molding die having a molding shape determined according to the predicted deformation quantity of the glass material which depends on the radius of curvature of the bottom surface of the glass material. A method for producing a molding die used in a molding method is provided which comprises molding the top surface of the glass material to obtain the molding. The shape of the molding surface is determined according to the predicted deformation quantity of the glass material which depends on the radius of curvature of the bottom surface of the glass material.
