PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device, eliminating polarized light spatially without unevenness. SOLUTION: The optical device includes a plurality of first phase elements and a plurality of second phase elements having slow axes in the direction different from the slow axes of the first phase elements and giving the substantially same phase difference as the first phase elements, wherein the plurality of first phase elements and the plurality of second phase elements are arranged on the same surface. The density of the first phase elements and the density of the second phase elements are substantially the same, and the spatial distribution of the density of the first phase elements and the spatial distribution of the density of the second phase elements may be substantially uniform.
