A polarizing plate, a manufacturing method thereof, an optical film and an image display apparatus using the same are provided to achieve favorable durability under high temperature by attaching a polarizer to a transparent protective film through an active energy ray curable adhesive. A transparent protective film is formed at any one surface of a polarizer with an interposed adhesive layer. The polarizer is dyed with a dichroic material. The polarizer is polyvinyl alcohol film which is subject to extension and contains sulfate ion. The adhesive layer is formed of an active energy ray curable adhesive containing at least one kind of curable component. The content of the sulfate ion in the polyvinyl alcohol film is 0.02 - 0.45 weight %. The curable component has an acryloyl group.
