The present invention relates to the treatment of inflammatory disorders not only for humans but also for animals, specifically for treating arthritis (inflammatory ankle disease). In the concrete it refers to the use of functional blocking antibody or fragment thereof, which bind to epitope of VLA-1, for preparing pharmaceutical composition for arthritis treatment. It refers to antibodies blocking integrin {alpha}1{beta}1, or fragment of such an antibody. Blocking occurs in such a way, that the antibody or its fragment binds to epitope of VLA-1. The epitope of VLA-1 is formed of amide acid remains 91 to 96 (Val-Gln-Gly-Gly-Arg). The antibody is according to the invention human antibody, chimeric antibody, or humanized antibody and it is both monoclonal and polyclonal antibody. |
