An image processing apparatus, system and method generates processed image(s) from an input image, received as plural pixels each of which includes red, green and blue (RGB) component values. A k local mean is identified - e.g. by a k means clustering algorithm - for the red, green and blue component values, where k is an integer. Then, for each local mean of the red, green and blue components, a candidate range of component values is identified, as well as a function for mapping the candidate range of component values onto a dynamic range of possible component values for representing the image. The apparatus then applies for each of the red, green and blue components the identified mapping function, to form for each of the k-local mean a processed display image. Thus, a system to assist surgical endoscopic examinations may be provided, detecting and analysing lesions to reduce histologies and repeat procedures. |
