Adjusting spring load in a valve actuator

A load device for a valve actuator includes a housing 204 and a plate 208. One or more springs 224 are disposed in the housing 204 to apply a force to the plate 208. A spring load adjuster 202 having a collar 212 extending through and movably engaged to the plate 208 enables an adjustment of the position of the collar 212 relative to the plate 208 to change a load provided by the springs 224. The load is varied by rotating adjusters 219. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 5), the collar is externally threaded and load adjustment is done by rotating the collar 212.
