A method and an apparatus for displaying a contents list are provided to display the list of various contents based on the information about the contents represented presently, by simple user manipulation. A method for displaying a contents list comprises a step of receiving a user command, and a step of indicating the list of contents belonging to the category which is set up based on the information about the contents represented currently, according to the type of the received user command(S120,S140).
