A backlight unit and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) using the same are provided to increase light incoming efficiency by increasing an area in an incident unit of a light guide plate and improve production efficiency by reducing an assembling process. A backlight unit comprises at least one light source(118), a light guide plate(120), a reflector(114), and a bottom cover(112). The light guide plate changes light of the light source into plane light. The reflector surrounds the light source and reflects the light to the light guide plate. The bottom cover surrounds the outer circumference of the reflector. The reflector includes a light source housing part and a plane reflection part. The light source housing part protects the light source and totally reflects the light of the light source to the light guide plate. In the plane reflection part, the light guide plate is settled. The plane reflection part reflects the light, outputted to a rear side of the light guide plate, to a front side. |
