METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DISCOVERING IPTV SERVICE PROVIDER AND IPTV SERVICE USING SIP PROTOCOL

An IPTV service provider/IPTV service search method using an SIP protocol and an apparatus thereof are provided enable a first entity to receive information about at least one IPTV service provider or IPTV service information from a second entity by using an SIP message. A first SIP(session initiation protocol) message which requests to provide information about a service provider is produced(210). The first SIP message is transmitted to a second entity(220). A second SIP message including information about at least one service provider is received from the second entity in response to the first SIP message(240). The service is an IPTV(Internet Protocol Television) service. The first SIP message is an SIP SUBSCRIBE message for requesting to provide information about the IPTV service provider. The SIP SUBSCRIBE message includes an event header for requesting to provide information about the IPTV service provider.
