METHOD OF ALLOCATING CID FOR FAST HANDOVER

A method of allocating a connection identifier for fast handover is provided to enable a target base station to update a CID(Connection IDentifier) efficiently by providing the CID of a terminal, which performs fast handover, to a terminal prior to a ranging procedure. An MS(Mobile Station)(900) transmits a handover request message to a serving BS(Base Station)(920)(S901), and the serving BS includes TCIDs(Transport CIDs) in a handover notification message. The serving BS transmits the handover notification message(S902). The target BS(940) includes the CID update information at the MAC IE before the ranging procedure is performed and the handover is completed. The MAC IE is directly transmitted to the terminal(S905).
