FRAME SYNCHRONIZATION APPARATUS AND METHOD

A frame synchronizing apparatus and a frame synchronizing method are provided to detect an FSM(Frame Synchronization Marker) rapidly by comparing the input data about four phase converted frame synchronization bit patterns at the same time. A register unit(120) includes a first register(122), a second register(124), and a third register(126). The first register stores the first to fourth FSM bit streams by phase-shifting the predetermined bit pattern with 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees. The second register stores the input data bit stream repeatedly four times. The third register stores the bit stream corresponding to the XOR of the bit streams stored in the first register and the second register. The controller(130) obtains a hamming distance value between the first and fourth FSM bit streams and the input data bit streams from the bit stream stored in the third register and determines the FSM of the input data bit streams through the hamming distance value.
