The device (D) has a memory (MS) for storing reference data representing temporal evolution of the translation of slides (G1) between reference points. The slides (G1) are translated with respect to slides (G2) by a motor. The data is updated based on acquired data representing anterior valid translation. A control module (MC) i.e. software module, acquire the data representing the valid translation from a Hall effect sensor (CH) to compare the acquired and reference data and to order the stopping of the motor, in case of absence of correspondence between the acquired and reference data.
