The cylinder (10) has a body (12) provided with inner bore (18) in which a piston (20) axially slides along a main direction (X). A control rod (28) is connected to the piston equipped with an insert (32) by a ball and socket joint (30). The rod has a radial collar (76) that is arranged axially behind the joint. The collar has a front side (78) cooperating with a rear edge (80) of the piston when the rod is separated angularly above a determined angle with respect to the axis. The collar applies axial compression force on the piston that is made of thermoplastic material.
