The assembly (10) has a brush sleeve (16) with bristles which radially project from a tubular core element, where the element and the bristle are formed of a single source. A rod hole is formed in an applicator rod (12) near a distal end of the applicator rod. A rivet (18) with a flange is at a distal end of the rivet, and a base part is received in the rod hole in the applicator rod. The sleeve is maintained with respect to the applicator rod by the rivet. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a brush assembly with a brush sleeve for applying product.
