PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To disperse lives of recording heads in the case of carrying out complementary recording using a plurality of the recording heads. SOLUTION: Poor ejection nozzles of the plurality of recording heads are detected, and states of the plurality of recording heads are judged to be superior or inferior to each other from detection results of the respective poor ejection nozzles of the plurality of recording heads. Recording data scheduled to be distributed to the detected poor ejection nozzles is distributed with priority to nozzles of the recording heads whose states are judged as inferior, which are nozzles for recording the same recording region as that of the poor ejection nozzles when multi pass recording is carried out.
