PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which enables a polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) of a degradable plastic to be efficiently produced by using methane-assimilating bacteria, and manpower to be reduced. SOLUTION: The method for producing the polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) by using the methane-assimilating bacteria includes successively carrying out the proliferation of the methane-assimilating bacteria and the accumulation of the PHB in the biomass of the methane-assimilating bacteria and is achieved by discovering four genuses such as the genus Methylosinus as the PHB-producing methane-assimilating bacteria.
