The system has a particulate mass (PM) filter provided with a division and resistance heater. The PM filter includes an upstream end and a downstream end for receiving discharged air. The heater is mounted in the upstream end, and comprises a group of regions. The heater is provided with electrical insulating materials. A control module selects one of the regions to reuse in the PM filter in a downstream position. The regions comprise a resistance coil that is covered with the insulating materials, where the insulating materials are mounted between two adjacent regions. An independent claim is also included for a method for utilizing a heat insulator system.
