The edge burr on the sand core (100) is removed by impact of solid bodies (200), which are moved by an air flow (3). The air flow is at least partially-turbulent. It envelops the entire core. The spheres (200) used, have a density of up to 1 kg/dm 3>. The core is moved in the airflow, rotating it about its axis. The airflow is produced by a pressure of 1-10 bar, continuously or at intervals. The process is automatic. It comprises laying, positioning and fixing the core in the fettling unit (400), rotating it and subjecting it to airflow with spheres, followed ultimately by core removal. The casing (410) used is essentially closed and forms a reservoir for the spheres. Nozzles (431, 432) are used to produce the airflow. These are formed by a perforated plate in the base. A fixing device (460) holds the core. The holder or the entire unit is rotated about an axis of the core. The unit includes automatically-folding sidewalls. The spheres (or other bodies) have a maximum size of 10 mm. They impact the core simultaneously with high kinetic energy. An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR the corresponding mold- or core fettling equipment.
|
