PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform satisfactory transfer even when the kind of recording material is different in transfer by a transfer nip having predetermined length. SOLUTION: When a variable cam 61 of a secondary transfer device 16 for pressuring force to the upstream-side secondary transfer roller is turned clockwise, spring force of a pressuring spring 59 for the upstream-side secondary transfer roller becomes large. Pressuring force of the upstream-side secondary transfer roller 43 to the belt driving roller 11 therefore becomes large. When the variable cam 61 is turned counterclockwise, the spring force of the pressuring spring 59 becomes small. The pressuring force of the upstream-side secondary transfer roller 43 to the belt driving roller 11 therefore becomes small.
