A technique that reduces electric current consumption of a bag making and packaging machine for making bags and packaging articles by using the bags. The bag making and packaging machine has a seal jaw for sealing a film as a packaging material, a heater (201F) for heating the seal jaw, a heater drive section (260) for driving the heater (201F), and a motor drive section (270) as a regenerative current supply section for supplying regenerative current generated by a motor to the heater (201F).
