PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel glycopeptide antibiotic monomer derivative that has largely improved properties in comparison with conventional glycopeptide antibiotic substances. SOLUTION: The derivatives represented by the formula: (aglycon part of glycopeptide antibiotic derivative) - (Sac-NH)-R<SP>A</SP>[wherein (aglycon part of glycopeptide antibiotic derivative) is the part formed by removing the sugar part from a known glycopeptide antibiotic derivative; (Sac-NH) part is an amino sugar part or a sugar chain part containing an amino sugar; and R<SP>A</SP>is represented by the formula: -X<SP>1</SP>-Ar<SP>1</SP>-X<SP>2</SP>-Y-X<SP>3</SP>-Ar<SP>2</SP>(wherein X<SP>1</SP>, X<SP>2</SP>, and X<SP>3</SP>are each (1) a single bond, or (2) a hetero atom or hetero atom-including group selected from -N=, =N-, -NR<SP>1</SP>-, -O-, or the like); Y is -NR<SP>2</SP>CO-, -CONR<SP>2</SP>- (wherein R<SP>2</SP>is H or a lower alkyl) or the like] and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof and a solvate thereof are provided.
