PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program information selecting device and program information selecting program which selects program information which accurately reflects the existence/non-existence of viewer's interest. SOLUTION: The program information selecting device determines that the viewer is interested in the program displayed on TV when the time duration wherein the viewer's face faces towards TV is a predetermined period of time or longer based on input image data from a camera for photographing the viewer and sets a degree of interest to 1. When the time duration is less than the predetermined period of time, the program information selecting device sets the degree of interest to 0. The program information selecting device acquires a keyword of the program displayed on TV from EPG information, etc. (S82), and registers the keyword as recommended program information (S86) when the degree of interest is 1 (YES in S85), while removing the keyword from the recommended program information (S87) when the degree of interest is 0 (NO in S85). Thereafter, out of the programs to be broadcasted in the future, the program information selecting device selects the programs containing the keyword registered in the recommended program information and makes the program information about those programs displayed on TV.
