PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine cover mounting structure capable of restraining breakage of a cover-side fixing part of an engine cover when the engine cover is detached from an engine side protrusion part. SOLUTION: When an engine cover having a cover-side fixing part 12 is mounted to a protrusion part 21 extending from an engine member via a grommet 3 made of an elastic material, the cover-side fixing part 12 is a frame-like body having a housing space 10 therein, and has a peripheral wall 16 and a bottom wall 18 surrounding the housing space 10, and a fitting hole 13 formed on the bottom wall 18 and detachably fitted with the grommet 3. The grommet 3 has an insertion hole 31 for inserting the protrusion part 21, and a lock groove 32 for locking a peripheral edge 13c of the fitting hole 13. At least one of an inner peripheral circumference 13d directed to the housing space 10 of the peripheral edge 13c of the fitting hole 13, and a groove wall 32a surrounding the lock groove 32 opposed to the inner circumference 13d is tapered to be inclined outward in an axial direction of the fitting hole 13 toward the inside in a radial direction of the fitting hole 13.
