The spanner for threaded fasteners has a drive lug (1) extending through a base plate (2) on the drive chamber (6). The lug has a foot (3) which extends through the base plate and is connected to a notched disc which is engaged by locking detents (5). A hand grip (7) is a plastic injection moulding with the chamber formed integrally and having a rear pot shaped recess (8) to form a bearing surface.
