<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To materialize a combined writing instrument that prevents a mouthpiece 7 from rocking in writing or in delivering a lead 6 with a lead cartridge 11 advanced, by abutting the outer step 7A of the mouthpiece 7 on the inner step of the barrel when the mouthpiece 7 of a mechanical pencil is protruded from the tip end of the barrel to make it ready to write. <P>SOLUTION: With a tightener 2 fitted to the outside of the head 1A of a chuck 1, a chuck spring 5 is stretched between a connector 3 fixed to the rear of the chuck 1 and a coupler 4. Further, an outer cylinder 9 is mounted on the coupler 4 with the mouthpiece 7 attached to the front and, in this outer cylinder 9, a pressurizing member 10 is incorporated so as to make it slidable in the longitudinal direction. The lead cartridge 11 is fixed to this pressurizing member 10, and a pen-stroke strength spring 12 is stretched between the outer cylinder 9 and the lead cartridge 11 with a force stronger than the pen-stroke strength, so that the connector 3 and the pressurizing member 10 are properly made to recede from each other.
