PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make screening by 4K attainable no matter which of 2K contents or 4K contents a digital cinema package (DCP) may be because of being based on DCI specifications and the standard of SMPTE. SOLUTION: Whether the DCP is the 2K contents or the 4K contents is automatically discriminated by a 2K/4K automatic discrimination processing part 106. Particularly when the DCP is determined to be the 2K contents, the processing of up-converting caption data by a caption data enlargement processing part 112 and also up-converting video data by a 2K component decoding processing part 109 and a 4K component decoding processing part 110 or the like is performed, and screening by 4K is made attainable in the digital cinema reproduction apparatus 100 no matter which of the 2K contents or the 4K contents the DCP may be.
