PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for accelerating web site access and processing by utilizing a multiprocessor computer system incorporating a reconfigurable microprocessor. SOLUTION: In a multiprocessor computer 10, N processors 120 to 12N are bi-directionally coupled to a memory interconnect structure 14, and in addition to these, N number of multi-adaptive processors ("MAPTM") 1120 to 112N are also coupled to the memory interconnect fabric 14. The multiprocessor computer 10 can be utilized, for example, in accelerating site visitor demographic data processing, real time web site content updating, database searches and other processing associated with e-commerce applications. All of the reconfigurable and standard microprocessors can be controlled by a single image of the operating system, but the cluster of microprocessors appear to the user as a single copy of the operating system.
