PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hermetic compressor which can stably supply sufficient lubricating oil by an oil supply mechanism using pressure difference even if sufficient centrifugal force cannot be obtained at a low speed operation and which achieves high efficiency by reducing the load to an electric element due to mixing resistance of a paddle and lubricating oil. SOLUTION: This compressor is provided in a cylinder block 125 with a first oil supply passage 145 of which one end opens to an inner circumference part of a main bearing 121, a first suction gas passage 145 of which one end communicates to the first oil supply passage 143 and of which another end is composed of a part of a suction muffler 135, or a second oil supply passage 147 communicating to the second suction gas passage 151 of which part is composed of a valve plate. Sufficient lubricating oil 103 can be stably supplied by the oil supply mechanism 160 using pressure difference even if sufficient centrifugal force can not be obtained at a low speed operation, and high efficiency can be achieved by reducing load to the electric element 109 due to mixing resistance of the paddle and lubricating oil 103.
