PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a battery having a high sealing performance. SOLUTION: A shaft portion of an output terminal 8 is provided with a shaft body portion 16 of a larger diameter than a shaft through-hole 23 of a washer 7 and a shaft top portion 17 which extends from the shaft body portion 16 and has a smaller diameter than a shaft through-hole 23 of the washer 7. When the diameter of the shaft body portion 16 is A, the length is La, and the diameter of the shaft top portion 17 is B, and its length is Lb, a relation between each of the above dimensions satisfies a formula (1) A>B, and a formula (2)π(A/2)<SP>2</SP>La>π(B/2)<SP>2</SP>Lb. In the manufacturing method of the battery, the outer diameters of the shaft top portion 17 and the shaft body portion 16 are expanded by applying a pressure and caulking the shaft top portion 17 of the output terminal 8 perpendicularly against an extension direction, and a most expanded portion of the shaft body portion 16 is positioned at a side wall portion of the through-hole 10 of a cover 5 or at a side wall portion of the shaft through-hole 22 of an insulative plate 6.
