PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an approach warning device for a vehicle directly transmitting approaching of the vehicle to a pedestrian by transmitting a warning sound signal from the vehicle to a portable music player used by the pedestrian and capable of enhancing safety of the pedestrian by receiving the returning sound signal. SOLUTION: The warning sound signal transmitted from a transmitting/receiving part 105 of the vehicle 1 is received by a portable transmitting/receiving part 505 of the portable music player 10, and the returning sound signal transmitted from the portable transmitting/receiving part 505 relative to the warning sound signal is received by the transmitting/receiving part 105 of the vehicle 1. Since the approaching circumstance of the vehicle 1 is directly transmitted to the pedestrian and the recognition circumstance of the pedestrian is transmitted to the occupant of the vehicle 1, safety of the pedestrian can be enhanced. Since the warning sound signal becomes noise relative to the music regenerated by the portable music player 10, the pedestrian is aware of transmission of the warning sound signal from the vehicle 1 side, and ON operation of a stop switch 11 of the portable music player 10 is performed.
