The unit has a pair of rotatable folding rollers (5a, 7a), which are distant to each other for opening and/or closing a folding gap between the rollers. A fold knife (4a) is moved in the opened folding gap, such that a flat flexible substrate (10) e.g. sheet of paper, is pushed between the rollers at a folding position by the knife. The folding rollers are driven in a rotating manner such that a pre-folded substrate is driven-out from the rollers by a rotating motion of the rollers in the folding position. An independent claim is also included for a method for folding a flat flexible substrate.
