PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the distance between a first and a second point through linear interpolation. SOLUTION: First and second points are positioned between first and second latitudes. The radius of the curvature of a prime vertical circle, which is interpolated at the point between the first and second points, is calculated based on the radius of the curvature of a first prime vertical circle on the first latitude and the radius of the curvature of a second prime vertical circle on the second latitude. The radius of the curvature of a meridian, which is interpolated at the point between the first and second points, is calculated based on the radius of the curvature of a first meridian on the first latitude and the radius of the curvature of a second meridian on the second latitude. A cosine, which is interpolated at a point between the first and the second points, is calculated based on the cosine value of the first latitude and the cosine value of the second latitude. The distance between the first and second points is calculated based on the interpolated radius of the curvature of the prime vertical circle, the interpolated radius of the curvature of the meridian, and the interpolated cosine value.
