PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a face photographing apparatus capable of positioning a face more excellently. SOLUTION: Points of intersection between two or more detection lines L1-L3 and the outline of a photographed (extracted) face are detected as detection edge points P, and are compared with reference edge points on the detection lines L1-L3. Then, positioning information corresponding to a shift direction and shift amount of each of the detection edge points P from the reference edge point is output, and face positioning is executed on the basis of the positioning information. Thus, since shift of a face in horizontal direction can be made different from the shift of the angle of the face, the face can be positioned more excellently. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
