PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an abnormal load with good precision, even when idle fluctuation occurs in a measurement value used in detecting the abnormal load. SOLUTION: A difference between a measurement value of power of a motor 4 during machining in the previous cycle and a measurement value of the power of the motor 4 in a cycle before the previous cycle, is added to an upper limit threshold value in the previous cycle, to thereby set an upper limit threshold value of the power of the motor 4 during machining in the present cycle, and a difference between a measurement value of the power of the motor 4 during idle operation in the present cycle and a measurement value of the power of the motor 4 during idle operation in the cycle before the previous cycle is added to a lower limit threshold value in the present cycle, to thereby set a lower limit value of the power of the motor 4 during machining in the present cycle.
