MEDICAL BIO-WASTE CONTAINER WITH INTEGRATED NEEDLE STOP

A bio-waste container (100) with integrated needle stop (170) is disclosed. The apparatus includes a catch basin (108) and a waste opening (148). The catch basin (108) is configured to hold biological and other material, and the waste opening (148) provides an aperture through which such biological and other materials can be deposited in the catch basin (108) during the course of the procedure. The bio-waste container (100) also includes an integrated needle stop apparatus (170) having a cushion layer (174) providing a depository for needles and other sharp tipped objects. The cushion layer (174) is formed of a puncture resistant material which prevents the needles or other sharp tipped objects from penetrating beyond the cushion layer (174). The needle stop apparatus (170) is secured to the bio-waste container (100) in such a way that it is securely coupled to the bio-waste container (100) during shipping and use, but is selectively removeable from the bio-waste container (100) for separate disposal.
