PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sarcosine oxidase having improved stability in a liquid state by modifying a protein having sarcosine oxidase activity by a protein engineering technique and to provide a method for producing the same and a use thereof.

SOLUTION: The modified sarcosine oxidase in which the 155th cysteine of a sarcosine oxidase having a specific amino acid sequence is substituted with isoleucine is provided. The gene encodes the enzyme. The method for producing the modified sarcosine oxidase is provided. The creatine measurement reagent uses the gene. The creatinine measurement reagent uses the gene.
