PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bank note identification device in which a light emitting part can be arranged arbitrarily regardless of the position of a light source. SOLUTION: The light emitting part 30 includes an opening 31 provided in a guide 23 on a lower side, a light source 32 provided in the vicinity of a paper currency put-in slot 21 and an optical guiding member 33 guiding light of the light source 32 to the opening 31. Thereby, no light source 32 is required to be arranged on the rear side surface of the opening 31 and the light emitting part 30 can be arranged arbitrarily regardless of the position of the light source 32.
