<p>A mobile messaging system comprises a communications device (22), a mobile messaging application (26) and a mobile phone (24). The communications device (22) send a message destined for an owner of the mobile phone (24) t the mobile messaging application (26), which initiates a control communication link with an intra-network instant messaging system (27) of the telecommunication network to which the mobile phone is connected and commands the instant messaging system to send a pre-determined registration message to the mobile phone. Upon receipt of the message, the owner of the mobile phone replies to the mobile messaging application (26) by electronic mail with their phone number. The mobile messaging system then records the relationship between the owner of the mobile phone's electronic mail address and the mobile phone number to facilitate future inter-network message communication with the owner of the mobile phone (20).</p> |
