PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overcurrent protecting element and a manufacturing method thereof, capable of obtaining a low resistance value when put back to room temperature after increasing in resistance value. SOLUTION: This invention relates to the element used while a polymer matrix 1 containing a plurality of dispersed conductive particulates 2 is held between a pair of electrode foils 3, wherein the polymer matrix 1 contains an organic metal compound. The organic metal compound is one of a monoazo metal compound, an acetylacetone metal compound, and a metal compound based upon aromatic hydroxyl carboxylic acid. The conductive particulates 2 and organic metal compound are heated and mixed, and the polymer matrix 1 is added, heated, and mixed, so when the element is put back to room temperature after increasing in resistance value, there is quite little change of exchanging of electrons, affecting power supply, due to a fine deviation in distance between conductive particulates 2.
