PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cross conveyor and a conveyance method, not causing damage to the side surface of a bundle of sheets due to interference with the edge of a conveyor belt. SOLUTION: This cross conveyor includes: a roller conveyor 4 provided with a plurality of rollers 2; a belt conveyor 8 provided with conveyor belts 6 arranged between the adjacent two rollers 2, going up and down relatively with respect to the roller conveyor 4, and also conveying a bundle of planographic printing plates 50 conveyed by the roller conveyor 4 along a Y direction crossing an X direction; and a process computer controlling the rotation of the rollers 2 of the roller conveyor 4. The process computer controls the rotation of the rollers 2 so that the tip end and rear end of the bundle of the planographic printing plates 50 conveyed by the roller conveyor 4 based on the X direction are positioned on the conveyor belt 6 or between the adjacent two conveyor belts 6.
