<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a good-shaped reduced iron molded material (hot briquette iron) by reducing iron oxide with a rotary hearth type reduction furnace and further, hot-molding and also, to provide a method for reducing a unit consumption of coke in a blast furnace and for increasing the productivity per unit time of a pig iron by supplying this reduced iron molded material under proper condition into the blast furnace. <P>SOLUTION: In the rotary hearth type reduction furnace, powdery molded material containing ≥40% total iron, and carbon having atomic molar amount of 0.7-1.5 times of oxygen in a metal oxide made to reduction with carbon monoxide atmosphere, is reduced under the atmosphere at 1200-1420°C, and the reduced iron-containing material having ≤5 mass% carbon ratio, is produced. This reduced iron-containing material is compression-molded with a roller type mold at 500-800°C to manufacture the reduced iron molded material.
