PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image selecting device, an image selecting method, and a program.

SOLUTION: The image selecting device includes a selection number specifying section for specifying the number of images to be selected; an image analysis section 228 for analyzing a plurality of images and extracting a feature quantity of each image; a first selection section for selecting at least images of the selection number from among the images, based on the feature quantity of each image extracted from the image analysis section; a second selection section for selecting an image from among the images by a discretionary method different from that taken by the first selection section; and a selection control section 240 for making not the first selection section but the second selection section select images when the selection number exceeds the first set number.
