<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for manufacturing metallic silicon having good energy efficiency and free of worsening of working conditions and lowering of yield. <P>SOLUTION: In the apparatus for manufacturing metallic silicon by heating and melting raw silica stone fed into a furnace and forming metallic silicon from SiO<SB>2</SB>by reduction with a reducing material, a burner is attached to the furnace downward, silica stone powder is fed into the burner with carrier gas, and while burning fuel downward with the burner, the silica stone powder is fed downward into a generated flame and melted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
