摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem in formation of an alignment layer using an oblique deposition method: slippage of aligning direction in the horizontal direction of a large substrate is caused by spread of deposition due to a point deposition source. SOLUTION: The method comprises an electrode forming step in which an upper electrode is formed on one half surface of a large substrate about a center line 13 located at the vertical center of the large substrate, and a lower electrode is formed on the other half surface thereof; and a sticking step in which a pair of large substrates 11 and 12 is stuck together so that the upper electrodes and the lower electrodes on the opposed surfaces of the pair of large substrates are opposed, respectively. The method further comprises a vertical dividing step in which a pair of large substrates is divided at the center line 13 to obtain a pair of divided substrates, and a polarizing plate setting step in which a pair of polarizing plates is stuck to the outside of the pair of divided substrates after the vertical dividing step.
