PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the weight of a cassette system comprising a cassette for detecting radiation image information and a control unit for communicating with a console being connected to the cassette. SOLUTION: The control unit 33 including electronic components such as an interface circuit 75, a cassette controller 46, and a communication unit 48, is separably connected to the cassette 24 which includes a radiation detector 40 by connectors 206A and 206B and a cable 202. Therefore, the amount of radiation shield object for shielding an electronic component from radiation X can be reduced, and hence the weight of the cassette 24 and the cassette system 10 can be reduced.
