A mating feature (50) is associated with the fuel rail (12) and/or fuel injector cup (16). The mating feature has an aperture (52) that receives and mates with the keying feature (36) of a fuel injector (14). The mating feature allows the fuel injector to be rotated so that the keying feature is transitioned from an aligned arrangement with the aperture to a misaligned arrangement to retain the fuel injector within the fuel injector cup. An independent claim is included for a method of assembling fuel delivery system.
