RAIL/ROAD VEHICLE FOR NARROW GAUGE RAILWAYS

The invention relates to a compact rail/road vehicle (1) intended for the maintenance of narrow gauge tracks forming part of railway networks, including: a chassis (2) bearing a driver's cab (3) provided with an engine (4) and tools (5); a power unit; at least two transportation means (6) driven by the engine (4) and enabling the vehicle (1) to travel on a road; two axles (7), each axle being provided with two railway wheels (8) and hinged to the chassis by at least one pivot (9), enabling the vehicle (1) to travel on rails (11); and an actuator (10) intended to move each axle (7). The invention is characterised in that the axles (7) are disposed on either side of the assembly formed by the chassis (2) and the transportation means (6), the axes of the railway wheels (8) extending parallel to the vertical longitudinal plane of the chassis (2). The invention is also characterised in that the body of each actuator (10) is housed in a recess inside the chassis (2) in order to limit the overall size of the rail/road vehicle (1).
