[Class 142 (ii)] [Also in Group VIII] Fabric take-up or yarn delivery mechanism for a knitting machine or loom, operative in one direction only, comprises a driving mechanism in the form of a sun-and-planet gearing, the holder 19 for the planet wheels 18 being restrained or released under control of a feeler member 11 engaging the fabric or yarn. As described in connection with the yarn delivery to the needles of a warp knitting- machine, the feeler 11 is depressed when the needles descend to take a fresh supply of yarn, and by means of a link 31 moves a lever 29 to allow brake members 26, 126 under spring control 27 to clamp a brake drum 22 carried by the holder 19. Simultaneously a second lever pivoted about the axis 30 of the lever 29 releases brake members 25 encircling a brake drum 21 keyed to the shaft 17 carrying the sun wheel 20. Upon upward movement of the feeler 11, the brake members 26, 126 are released from the brake drum 22, and the shaft 17 is braked by the members 25, 125. The warp beam 10 is driven from the shaft 17 by bevel gearing 123 and worm gearing 24. |
