Disclosed herein is a clay useful for various types of play and learning for infants and young children as well as fabrication of prototypes of articles. Especially, disclosed are a novel air clay capable of being used in a room, instead of general clay, sand or other materials including wax or paraffin coated sand or clay, silly putty, paper mache and the like, which has unique texture and characteristics clearly distinguished from conventional viscous sand or artificial clay and can be repeatedly used without water and, in addition, a method for preparing the same. The disclosed air clay includes a base material prepared by finely grinding, for example, sand powder, glycerin and a coagulating agent for water treatment and exhibits a unique characteristic in that the air clay is expanded and absorbs air by stretching the same so as to become loose and fluffy like cloud, cotton or snow, while the air clay releases air and returns to its original dense and hard condition by kneading and compressing the same. |
