PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-efficiency driver circuit for a solid-state switch, which turns on SCR without using a three-terminal voltage regulator. SOLUTION: A trigger circuit 100 includes a DC-DC current mode buck converter which supplies a constant output DC current regardless of the variation in the supply voltage. The buck converter supplies, to a control terminal 102 of a silicon control rectifier SCR108, a minimum current IL to turn on the silicon control rectifier SCR108 despite variations in the intrinsic control requirements.
